Can you explain why the country is needed? I do ship to other countries, but why does Paypal need to know country? That information is already in the Customers Paypal account. Sorry for my ignorance.

Usually with Paypal Express the person just checks out without having to enter country.

There are two purpose of the country information.
1. For detecting correct shipping zone and get correct shipping carriers we need country and state if applicable. Because shipping zone are based on country/region.
2. It redirect user to correct Paypal site. Paypal has different sub-domain or sub-folder for each country so that it will display different language. This is good for user.

of course, if your carriers does not related to country, then you can hide the country. It is configurable at module configuration screen.

Module installs and operates very well. the agilepaypal.php file is very heavy and does not edit well but the module works great.

One change: I would like my pdf orders to appear as "paypal Express" and not "Agile Paypal" since my customers become confused and do not know what this means. How can I change it? I tried translations and it did not work.

What do you mean by that? Is the file large?
I think it could be your editor or control panel issue. The file is not that big - it is only 40K bytes.

You should be able to change that by translation. I check the code, it is following line in file agilepaypal.php

I don't know why the translation is not working, it should work.
by the way, you can try this change this line in file /modules/agilepaypal/agilepaypal.php
